The aroma has sweetness, notes of roasted malt, dark fruits like raisin, dates and figs and candy sugar. The flavour has sweetness and notes of roasted malt, spice, dark fruits, candy sugar and the finish is slightly bitter with a tendency to become a little harsh, dry and spicy. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 23, 2008 Medium yellow-beige head, dense, over red-brown beer. Very chocolatey nose, bit of solvent, light lactic acid, dry pine needles. Roasted-burnt character, burnt grains, overlying lactic-chocolatey underbuild. Persistent point of acidity. Chocolate, burnt, remaining on the palate. Rather well-bodied, alcohol discreet; slick. Problem I have with this not undeserving beer, is that it tries to pull into two directions at once. Lactic Oud Bruin notes are clashing with the burnt dark malts specs. Or, another failed attempt at reconciling Walloon & Flemish... MiP (9090), Sønderborg, Denmark
