Bottled. Inspite of the name, this beer is not black, but rather a hazy deep red color with a huge tan head. The aroma is sweet matly with notes of caramel, as well as an acidic edge, and spicy and herbal notes. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of caramel, herbs, and a touch of alcohol, that tickles the tongue, leading to a dry spicy finish. It is very dry due to very little residual sugar.

(Bottle 33 cl) Hazy orangey brown with a small off-white head. Lightly tart and fruity aroma. Medium body with some roasted malt, burned malt accents and a fairly bitter finish. Atypical Belgian but very good. 140908

From tap at Den tatoverede Enke. Pours murky and dark brown with a creamy white head. Liqourice, yeasty and roasted caramel malt aroma. Flavour is sweet and spiced and liqourice for the first main impression. Gains in intensity of the spice flavours. Adds a light classic belgian yeast touch and some lingering caramel. Finish is spiced and liqourice and with a persisting yeasty touch. Bitter into the far finish and quite fruity.

Draught @ Den Tatoverede Enke, Copenhagen, Denmark. Unclear medium to light dark amber color with a average, frothy to creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, caramel, dusty, moderate to light heavy hoppy, grass, light to moderate yeasty. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet amd moderate to heavy bitter with a long duration, and a dry dry finish. (Sweetness is like belgium yeast). Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. Very nice. (190708)

Bottle, 9%. Roasted and yeasty aroma. Cloudy very dark amber colour. Big stable light brown head. The flavour is quite yeasty, but also nicely malty and with a nice roasted finish. A lot of yeast, but well-balanced and nice.

Mode: Draft
Source: Brick Store Pub
Appearance: opaque dark brown, big creamy beige head, sheets of lace
Aroma: sweet and fruity aroma, dark fruits, light spicyness
Flavor: sweet malt flavor, lots of dark fruits, well balanced with an earthy bitterness that takes away a bit too much of the sweetness and detracts from the dark fruits but add a spicy hoppy character, light spicyness blends with the earthyness, picks up a breadyness upon warming
Aroma: 7/10; Appearance: 7/10; Flavor: 7/10; Palate: 6/10; Overall: 14/20
Rating: 3.5/5.0
Drinkability: 7/10
