Commercial Description:
A fantastic Christmas beer, but one that defies the universal custom of a stronger, spicier beer for the holiday season. At 7% alcohol by volume, this one is relatively lighter in alcohol than the Guldenberg, and does not pack the hop punch of the XX. It combines some of the best elements of those other two beers – with a fine balance of malt and hops, complex character, a refreshing dryness, and a gorgeous cellar aroma – but is distinguished by its festive copper color. The 1999 Père Noël was a bit of a departure, with a very appealing yeasty tartness that was not readily discernible in earlier years.

Dear god this was expensive! On tap, chalice glass, at the brickskeller. Hearty, slightly bitter, clovery hints of richness. A lot to handle, though drinkable, though god it was expensive!

This beer pours a tangerine color with a thin white lace that disappates quickly. The smell is of candied fruit orange citrus, peach, grassy/hay (wheat) notes. The taste starts with sweet apricot flavor then hits you with a slight alcohal essence then follows with a slight hoppy bitterness that compliments the whole beer.

Kaisla on their Christmas menu. 75cL bottle. Hazy with a hazel-white head. Smell was complex - citrus tartness, wheat, yeast, barnyard and several things I just can’t put into words. The taste - even more so... Warm, metallic, caramel, no alcohol whatsoever. A very organic tasting beer.

Had this at BJ’s Winter Ale Fest. Beer poured a murky dark golden color with an average-sized, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting head. Pretty to look at. The aroma was compelling with light malty notes of toasted grain; heavy with bright hoppy notes of lemon, herbs and pine and yeasty with funky notes of barnyard, horseblanket, cellar, moldy cheese and earth. There’s something interesting happening in the hop aromas, too. Somthing that calls to mind the living room the afternoon after a pot party or chewing on a geranium leaf. The flavor was moderately sweet and heavily bitter with a long, heavily bitter finish full of pine retros. The body was light, the texture was watery and the carbonation was lively. The palate served to accentuate the rest of this beer’s characteristics. Quite nice.

Hazy, murky orange body, medium-thick off-white/beige head. Floral, peppery aroma, with light fruits, breads, and crackers. Light sweetness in the body but mostly spicy and bitter, with pepper, light caramels, and bread. Medium-bodied. The bitter, earthy hops component that becomes especially evident in the finish is unique.
