Commercial Description:
A fantastic Christmas beer, but one that defies the universal custom of a stronger, spicier beer for the holiday season. At 7% alcohol by volume, this one is relatively lighter in alcohol than the Guldenberg, and does not pack the hop punch of the XX. It combines some of the best elements of those other two beers – with a fine balance of malt and hops, complex character, a refreshing dryness, and a gorgeous cellar aroma – but is distinguished by its festive copper color. The 1999 Père Noël was a bit of a departure, with a very appealing yeasty tartness that was not readily discernible in earlier years.

Aroma a bit sour, strawberries, thin light tan head, cloudy amber in color. Very thin body. Hoppy, fruity flavor.

Bottle, courtesy of my favorite secret santa
Cloudy, light orange, lowish creamy head Spicy heather, wooden and nutty aroma. Caramel base-flavor, dry peachskin, barrique, a hint of metallicity. Medium body, light sparkly mouthfeel. Yeasty minerally and apricot aftertaste. Thanks Nat!

Vinous, hoppy nose - nice. Hazy deep gold color, lacy head. Quick sweet malt with hints of white grape and spice. Hoppy end. Thinner than expected, but overall decent. Not as Christmasy as one would want though...

Bottle shared by Geno5. Cloudy orange color with a mediuml off white head. Fruity, tart aroma with some hay and hops that come together to remind me of vomit a little bit. Flavor was better than the aroma I thought. Still a bit fruity and hoppy with some grassiness. Kind of mild flavored for a Christmas beer.

On tap. Amber colour. Unclear. Nice lace head. Sour unpleasant aroma. Very hoppy flavour, not what you may expect. But overall a different christmas beer.

Orange color, medium haed leaving laces. Lively carbonation. Yeast and cooky dough nose - also some traces of hops. Peppery and hoppy first, mellows down then with a lots of nice malt and yeast. Finishes spicey again. Nice.

Bottle. This brew was supposed to have been brought by a guest to a Winter beer tasting I hosted this past Winter, but said person failed to show. Another friend brought it over last night, and I didn’t recognize it at first. Sour, highly carbonated aroma. My friend’s daughter thought it smelled like wet feet. She me have been on to something, but in a good way. Beautiful orange-red cloudy body with particalia. Lasting, small, off-white head. Not highly carbonated as I thought it would be. Great session quality. While tasting, I referred to this as the Belgian Fuller ESB. Has some mild bitter hops to go with the smooth malt profile. Hides the alcohol. Simply wonderful.

pours a Slightly cloudy amber orange color. Fairly intense grassy and citrusy aromas. Flavor is the same with a lingering bitterness to it. I didn’t enjoy this beer to much. The woodsy/grassy aroma and flavor was to much for me at that point in the day!
