Gushing from the bottle, this opaque orange-brown beer has a large meringue head that settles down to a small disc and leaves sticky lace everywhere. Aroma of resin and honey. Flavor is similar, with plenty more resin on the finish. Near-medium body is almost smooth and very hop-dry. radagast83 (1315), Fairfax, Virginia, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 27, 2008 750 ml bottle. Pours a cloudy light orange color. Aroma is citrus, hops, notes of yeast, and a touch of spice. The flavor is slightly sweet, and has a unidentifiable (to me) spice that gives it a unique taste. Overall I was impressed by this brew. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Bottle. Poured a cloudy, muddy amber color with a thin, light off-white head. Mild earthy hops plus a citrus-like funk on the aroma. Taste has a mild suggestion of funk, but more hops eventually come through. Mild finish. Middle of the road. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 21, 2008 Bottle that Loz’s parents brought me back from Brugges, cheers to Isobel and Graham. Wonderfuly hoppy beer but also nice spiciness and yeastiness it, its typically De Ranke. The initial bite is just so hoppy and cuts through any sweetness which dare to linger, nicely bitter, good dried fruits also show, nice Belgian Christmas beer. armando629 (1006), Budapest, Hungary

The slowly opened aroma is spicy coriander and liqueric fruits, caramel, a little vanilla and floral hop. Flavor is spicy with coriander, a strong and good balanced hop, caramel and roasted malt, dried fruits like apricot and some raisins. Bittery, dry finish with coriander. Fine beer! hughie (3076), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 11, 2008 On tap (well actually poured out of a jug) at the Foreign Bar, Bedford BF ’08. Copper with a small white head. Why, according to the Commercial Description, is copper a ’festive’ colour?Sweet slightly leafy aroma. Fizzy, underarm malt taste. Some late bitterness. Not very good, to be honest, considering this was two quid (GBP) for a half pint. rederic (1815), montréal, Quebec, Canada
