JorisPPattyn (4275), Antwerpen, Belgium Oct 14, 2006 Draught Yellow-amberish head, fast gone; over foxy-chestnut beer. Caramel, even toffee nose, sweet and coloured malts; parsley, bready - especially cakerind - even some fruity esters. Woody, wry-malty taste, hints of tannins, juniper. Light to medium bodied, and even when its MF is slightly water, it is not empty. Ah, not bad - better than the blonde anyway IMO.
skortila (2393), Bunnik, Netherlands Aug 19, 2008 Bottled. Aroma has caramel malts, some dark fruits/raisin. Hazy, brown coloured with a medium, off-white head. Taste is sweet, has raisin, caramel malts/sugar. Medium bodied. Nice beer. mabel (1633), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 5, 2008 [1334-20080508] 330mL bottle. Sweet bourbon whiskey alcohol aroma. Hazy, dark amber body with a medium-lasting creamy off-white head. Sweet slightly boozy malt flavour has a hint of raisin and a woody finish. Medium-full body is a bit boozy. Interesting in a pleasant way, well-blended.

Overheard: "... baby brother to a Rochefort or Quad." BoBoChamp (635), Gent, Belgium Jul 23, 2008 33cl, from De Hopduvel Gent, not complex brew, hazy, good head, nice brew, more balanced than the Blonde scotty (740), Scotland Jul 5, 2008 A Ronnie beer. Slightly hazy, minimal head. Nice nose of crystal malt and sultanas, fairly full in body, with a remarkably clean palate, a bit on the sweet side, but I expected that. Cant say there’s much more to it, it’s not a bad brew, but it’s not a classic in my book. I’d certainly have it again, but as it’s an R.B. that’s gonna be unlikely! jerc (3114), Toronto, Ontario, Canada May 9, 2008 2008-05-08. Brown body with a modest beige head (3+). Sweet aroma of caramel or brown sugar soaked malt, dark fruit. Sweet flavour with lots of the dark fruit hinted at in the aroma. Sweet sugary undertones. Average plus palate. (3+) Pleasant and quite drinkable, but does not distinguish itself a whole lot from many other similar Belgian brews. Bottle courtesy of trade with Boutip
