This one I had from the cellar of Joris - it was from the beginning of the 80’s - so around 20 years old when sampled. The color is an orange-brown and it has a thin head. The aroma is very sour - as a gueuze should be. The flavor is lovely sour with notes of metal and lemon on a rather dry background. This was really a treat Joris pulled out - thanks a lot, Joris.

37.5 cL bottle at DHVL, 1993. Pours clear and pale yellow with a small white head. Vague aroma of light brett and mild barnyard notes. Acidic and dry flavoured. Solid citric sour bite. Makes me shiver. Lovely lasting citric/sour bite into the far finish.

Bottle. [Vintage 1999] Unclear light to medium yellow orange color with a average, creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate lemon grape sour and sweet, fruity, wood. Flavor is moderate sweet, acidic and acetic with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily / watery, carbonation is flat. Very round and good balanced, mild but with character ;o)) (121207)

Bottle, 5.5%. Good citric aroma, lemony with a little clean mold. Clear dark golden colour. Nice stable white head. The flavour is obviously citric, very clean. Some lemon and a tiny hint of cellar. Hurts my throat a bit.

Horseblanket, tart apples, complexity? Did I get that right? Does de Troch actually make a good, traditional lambic? Wow.

Bottle at The Kulminator 1999 vintage. Great aroma. Nice gueuze which ticks all of the boxes. Good acidity. Lovely lemon acidity.

A Mes rate: 93 bottle from the Kulminator.
Sadly this was just on its way out but it was still bloody good. Bright gold with a very slight hazy and a thin but lasting white head. Big barnyardy sourness, loads of lemon and just a slight lick of sweetness desperately clinging onto life. Lovely bitterness round the edges of the palate and a big cheesy acidic finish. Why oh why do De Troch not make them like this anymore?
