Commercial Description:
This is a traditional India Pale Ale made with 100% British ingredients (except for California water). As we do with our ESB, we use the most expensive malt available (Maris Otter) and only the two finest whole English Hops available (East Kent Golding & English Fuggles) to make this IPA. The differences between our IPA and our ESB are that the IPA is 7% alcohol instead of 6% and is hopped with more East Kent Goldings & Fuggles. This is not an American style IPA that is hopped heavily with Cascade hops and jumps out of the glass and grabs you by the throat, but rather an English style that uses the traditional hops that meld with the malt. "As with our ESB, you will find this to be the best IPA you’ve ever had."

On cask @ The Daily Pint. Hazymedium orange with a one finger creamy beige head, cask retention. Lots of lemony tang up front with some biscuity toasty malts behind, plus a little leather. Flavor follows much the same with bitterness peaking @ a 4, lemon sourness at a 3--never had a sour English-style IPA. Infected, perhaps? Semi-dry. Low carbonation with a medium body.

From the Jug at the GABF Colorado Convention Center, Denver 09/10/2008 Fruit aroma. Golden coloured with a pineapple fruit flavour. Creamy on the palate with some dryness in a slightly bitter malt finish.

Tasted at the San Diego International Beer Festival. Golden with a fizzy head. Hoppy caramel aroma with a nice floral hops taste and a slightly acidic finish.

Had this on cask (I assume it’s this one?) at the LA Beer fest. A very smooth and mellow IPA. Not overly hoppy, no big aroma, definitely not west coast style. And because of that it didn’t really do much for me. A very smooth and well crafted beer, that really lacks an IPA punch.

On hand cask. Pours with a hazy golden orange body and a fluffy white head with great cask lacing. Aroma of grass, hay, cereal, light sweetness and a few Fuggles hops. Taste is yeasty and malty with light grass and cereal. Creamy mouthfeel, light carbonation.

This is a nice, easy drinking brew. As opposed to the hop bombs we see here in SoCal, the herbal/grass notes in this beer, which are nicely balanced with maltiness make this a nice beer.
