HoppityHop (74), USA Oct 29, 2007 Dark brown in color with a nice toffee flavor. Not the best Belgian brown I’ve ever had (that would probably be Achel) but "defiantly" a good one. Very easy to drink with no hint of the 8% alcohol. Great American representation of the style. jasonp (1423), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA Sep 15, 2007 On tap at Defiant. Cloudy muddy brown with a beige head. Nice barnyard nose with some toffee and spiciness. Flavor is a wonderful mix of brett/funk, some citric-acidity, toffee, plum/raisins, a hint of grapes, light spiciness and earthy hops. Great balance between between citric funkiness, sweetness and bitterness. Bold and flavorful with the alcohol content very well-masked. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and moderate to slightly lively carbonation. Satisfying level of dryness. This was great. Big props to Neil for offering up this rare style among US craft brewers (especially in the brewpub wasteland of the NY/NJ metro area) TRY THIS ASAP.
