On tap at a specialty bar in Bagota, NJ. I thought it was delicious. I’m a sucker for carmelly malt, and this one’s got it in spades. It could stand to be a little more viscous, but for an American dunkel, it’s pretty nice.

Bottle from Lou18 via Mystery Swap 2.0. Pours turbid deep coppery/brownish with a big, fluffy, off-white head. The head is louder than a two-bit whore who’s just been stiffed. The aroma is caramel malty, with some citrus (orange, tangerine), hops, and slight spicy notes. The flavor is caramel malty with a solid hop bill, mid-palate mango, tangerine, and black pepper, and some finishing cognacy notes. Very complex in flavor and aroma, with an extremely lively, well balanced fruity and hoppy palate that provided some aromas and flavor hints that I seldom see in lagers, but would like to see more of.

The only real flaw I find with this beer is the fruitty hop taste. Easily the best Defiant beer I’ve had. I

Sampled from a keg at Joeec5’s house. Hazy dark amber color with a medium sized off white head. Mildly sweet malty aroma with some caramel and grassy hops. Flavor was lightly sweet, with a nice nuttiness and caramel notes to the malt. Mild hop bitterness on the finish. Very drinkable.

Pours a medium amber/ dirty coppery brown, slightly hazy, and a thin lasting sticky head. Aroma is lightly hoppy with some citrus and herbal hints and a light malt crispness. Deep toasted malt flavors with light nuttiness, and some caramel sweetness and more hops. Nice crisp clean bitterness and smooth finish. This is nice and easy drinking.
