Jun 6, 2002 Holy smokes. Put another log on the fire. A wonderful smokey aroma is filling the room. The palate is rich and smokey. A great example of a love or hate style. Not as smokey as last year.

Jan 30, 2002 Amber-brown in colour. Salty, malty, sourish & smokey. Complex, but falls short of the on the malt if comparing to the Bamberg version.

Sep 9, 2001 Oh hell yes...this one’s a keeper. Full-bodied, sweet bock base is complemented by a terrific balance of smoke towards the finish. There is also a great bit of ale-like fruitiness in play here, a beautiful counter-point to the smoke and the caramel of the bock. Aproaches Schlenkerla’s level, and certainly one of the ten best beers in America. A stunning piece of brewing!

May 1, 2001 Robust bock, with great development of dark malt flavours, and then a smooth, mellowed-out smokiness overtop - lovely.
