omhper (10393), Stockholm, Sweden Jun 3, 2006 [Bottled at Akkurat, Stockholm] Clear golden, creamy head. Barnyardy citric nose. The malt sweetness is edged out by refreshing acidity. Dense mouthfeel, plenty of lemon juice. Pretty intense, but not very complex. Papsoe (9980), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 2, 2005 (Bottle 37,5 cl) Rather dark golden, hazy beer with a small, bubbly head. Very aromatic, spicy nose - almost vinous. Definitely tart and citrusy - I don’t really detect any sweetness at all. But then again I don’t really get the vinegary notes either. I could have mistaken this for being a traditional gueuze which I can understand from Joris, that it is not. 230498 joergen (6240), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 8, 2007 Bottle.
Hazy amber coloured with a white head.
Aroma of unriped berries and berries with acidic notes.
Acidic flavour of berries and wood. Hildigöltur (5051), København Ø, Denmark Nov 16, 2007 Bottled. Hazy pale amber coloured. Lots of citrus in the aroma. Nice barnyard notes. Not very sour, but refreshingly acidic. Light and fresh with some complexity. hopscotch (4433), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Mar 5, 2008 Bottle... Hazy golden ale with a mid-sized, fluffy, white head... diminishes slowly to an everlasting, small, creamy white head. The aroma is “everything barnyard” with an additional note of sharp cheese. Medium-bodied and very creamy with lively carbonation. Too sweet and well-rounded for the style. It’s missing the heavy acidity and rough-around-the-edges characteristics that I normally enjoy most about this style of beer. Moderately sweet, bitter and acidic... too much balance for me. Lengthy tart and bitter finish. A shout goes out to ygtbsm94 for floating this one across the pond for me to try!
