bu11zeye (5430), Frisco, Texas, USA Jun 27, 2009 (375ml bottle, 1993 vintage) Pours a reddish-brown body with a spare white head. Aroma of mustiness, cork, and cherries. Flavor of cherries, wood, and a little funky. Dedollewaitor (3622), Odense, Denmark Dec 26, 2008 37,5cl bottle at Delirium Cafe. Pours amber with a reddish hew & a small creamy head. Lots of sweet cherries. A mild sour note. Sticky palate. A kriek on the sweet side but fresh, quenching and delicious! Ungstrup (14724), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 9, 2008 Bottled. A deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of almonds as well as notes of cherries. The flavor is sweet and acidic with strong notes of almond, medium notes of cherries, and light notes of brettanomyces towards the finish. The body is thin. KimJohansen (6645), Copenhagen V, Denmark Aug 26, 2008 Bottle 1993 @ De Herren Van Liedekercke. Cloudy red with medium off white head that has pinkish glimts. Aroma has sour berries and wood. Flavor is sweet and sour with cherries, wood and almond notes. Ends sour. henrikb (1298), Aarhus, Denmark Aug 15, 2008 From Boon - Very deep clear red brown (to brown) body, fine bubbled pink head; Very big very straight forward nose, lots of yogurt, lots of ripe red cherries and a very little dry hay behind; Quite sweet slightly oxidized body, very little acid near nose the only thing biting is the quite sharp carbonation; Slightly dry texture in finish but still very sweet, little acid and still some oxidized aromas. Not really interesting. RomanW70 (297), Providence, Rhode Island, USA Jul 14, 2008 Had at Den Bengal in Antwerp on 6/19, The DeKoninck I had was a Flemish Red, so I’m not sure if this is the right place to rate this. Pours ruby, caramel with medium head. Strong nose of cherries, dark fruits, and yeast. taste has same noted, but more subdued. Clean finish. Nice beer. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England May 31, 2008 A Mes rate: 1993 bottle at DHVL. A very good looking kriek, you know what to expect. This is a proper girlie drink but I do have a tendency to like such things on occasion. The Boon influence is obvious in the aroma. Full on rich cherry that is sweet as hell but then a delicate sourness coupled with a lovely dryness looms from the glass. Slightly oxidised but there is no sign of it being over the hill. There is something gorgeous in the background that I can’t put my finger on. Sadly the flavour is not in the same league. Very similar to the nose and still tasty bu there is a definite blood note that I don’t really care for and the sweetness takes over the faint acidity too much. I still enjoyed having it however. hopscotch (5437), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Mar 6, 2008 Bottle… Clear and extremely dark (deep ruby when held up to the sun) with a huge, pink cotton candy head. Good retention. The nose is of sweet black cherries with only a fraction of the cool funkiness found in their gueuze. Light to medium-bodied with spritzy carbonation. Cloyingly sweet and fruity with mild acidity and almost no bitterness. Cherries and candy sugar. Cherry Swee Tart® finish. Bottle provided by ygtbsm94!
