biermensch (64), USA Sep 13, 2005 On tap at the Brewhaus. Very light, very short-lived head. Yes, it looks like the amber, maybe a little deeper red. The alcohol this year is 6.9, and it is noticeable but not in your face. Very malty and sweet, but not cloyingly so, this is dangerously drinkable. Similar in style, but bolder in flavor, than the Pschorr Brau Octoberfest.
robertsreality (2462), Minnesota, USA Dec 5, 2005 Orange Autumn Coloring with White Ring. Sweet Malt and Light Autumn Spices..Medium Mouthfeel..Sweet Malt, Caramel Notes on the Tongue...Light Hop Ending. Light Alcohol Notes Detected and Overall a Sweet Brew. Bockyhorsey (2056), Mesa, Arizona, USA Oct 18, 2005 Sample; Aroma of malty sweet and spices. Medium bodied with sweet mals and spices as well. Orange body with off white head. muzzlehatch (4429), Burlington, USA Oct 16, 2005 Pint at the brewpub. Deep solid amber with a touch of head...malty, sweet, a bit raisiny in the body, just a hint of toastiness, and a fairly large smack of alcohol...body reminds me of caramel-apples, but with rum injected into them..syrupy, a bit too boozy, some nice toasty malts are present but for me the alcohol is just too much for this session style. Rather harsh finish. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Oct 14, 2005 Magnifying bright orange in color with a thin and creamy peach colored head. Squeezable plastic toys register first for aroma, anteceded by honey roasted almonds, fading Nutella, caramel, butterscotch and autumnal potpourri. Nice sweet and nutty flavor profile. A delectable mix of brown sugar sprinkled pecans and pistachio, complimented by a maple and honey one-two combo. Carbonation levels are nearly perfect, and the oaken and nutty sweetness derived from patience in lagering is greatly appreciated. Just enough spiciness to seal the deal, protruding with pepper and rye. Therein lies the finish, along with a sweetened brand flake cereal aftertaste. Very well done. badgerben (3234), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Oct 8, 2005 Amber color with no head. Sweet alcohol aroma. Light malt flavor with some honey to sweeten the mix. Very drinkable and a nice example for the style.
