That is not to say this isn’t a sweet beer, it’s quite far from dry. However, the sweetness is mild and a little corn syrupy. Flavor also has apple, plum and a hint of grass. Palate was delightful, smooth and silky but somewhat light. Overall, a solid beer, but probably won’t have many more of these. OliverG (85), montreal, Quebec, Canada

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 26, 2009 Humongous tan head that won’t fade. Dark copper pour with ruby tints. Loads of yeast chunks (and I haven’t even pours the whole bottle yet!) including some stuck in the head.
Aroma is Belgian bready yeast, loads of spices, candy sugar sweetness, tang apples and some light roasted malt. Sort of lacking for a Belgian strong.
Flavour is dominated by an almost sour tang, followed by a cidery taste often present in home-brews brewed too warm/too much simple sugar. Some toffee malt and lots of alcohol. Carbonic acidity from high carbonation present.
Too much carbonation! NomDeBeer (400), Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 25, 2009 Pours brown with no head. Taste is sugar, a little cardboard, and fruits - maybe a little mandarin oranges. Slight roasted note in the finish. Decent mouthfeel, but the taste is not not really my thing. Drinkable, but not particularly enjoyable. tennisjoel (950), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 25, 2009 Brown bodied beer with a creamy head. Aromas of raisin, brown sugar, and spices. The mouthfeel is a bit sticky, with the alcohol noticable but not overpowering. Certainly a good beer, but not quite on par with the top in the style. mar (1916), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 21, 2009 Bottle. Pours with a one finger beige head over a dark brown body. Nutty aroma, with dark fruits, raisins, caramel and a hint of coffee. Flavor was dark frruits, toffee, and some off flavors. Narnad (714), Wonder Lake, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 19, 2009 Pours a dark brown with a big tan/off white head, moderate carbonation. Aroma is a low pils malt aroma, lots of candy sugar aroma, light noble hops.
Flavor starts off with a malt bite but quickly moves into a dark, slightly burned sugar flavor, some modest dark fruit notes. Beer is very smooth, great density and the carbonation is perfect to deliver the aromas and flavors.Overall a very high quality beer with everything done just perfect and one I will be looking forward to having again in the not too distant future.
