Complex and potent nose of yeast, malt, fruit, and nuts. Taste is very complex as well with malt, fruit, nut, caramel, coffee and raisin notes. Finish is fruity, caramelly, bitter-sweet. cblado (150), Wisconsin, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 29, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours a cloudy chestnut brown with a large tan head. Aroma is fruity, definitely a lot of yeast and some malt. Flavor is dominated by malt, with a nuttiness as well. Surprisingly little alcohol flavor. Finish is fruity, with some raisin tones as well. Not bad, not bad at all. JFURYCAT (792), East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 28, 2008 I actually dig the aroma where the yeast shines. But....besides an obvious alcoholic kick on first sip, this yields a raisin-like STICKY malt flavor with some figs, nutmeg and grapes thrown in. Brown-dark pour with a medium body and way too sweet. The finish seems to have a bitter chocolate licoriche flavor. Palate is a bit on the wet side which doesn’t seem to complement the stickiness. Bottle from NEPA case split (Thanks Brian!!!!). | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 25, 2008 [bottle] Pours deep amber with a huge, rocky, tan head. Aroma is tart apples, raisins, dark fruits, and a little bit of yeast. Flavor is fairly sweet, with raisins, brown sugar, and a tartness that lingers on the sides of your mouth. Mouthfeel is fairly light. Very, very drinkable for a beer, considering the abv and sweetness. oberabcbbsok (686), Hoboken, Belgium

Nocturnum pours a dark brown with a ruby hue and a thick white head that slowly thins out. The aroma is wonderful and full of ripe fruit, candy and melon. The flavor is full of sweet fruits. Dried apricot, plum, orange marmalade and pineapple. There are sweet bready malts as well that mix with the fruit flavors to give this beer a fruit cake quality that has been laced with warming alcohol. This is a delightful Belgian ale with a full body, average carbonation and a sweet finish.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 23, 2008 Last beer of the night, which equates to the poorest review of the night. A really nice brew. Pours a cloudy bronze color. Yeast, spice and sweet dark fruits. Alcohol was hidden nicely. scrizzz (1341), kirkland, Washington, USA

The head clung to itself and refused to retreat down the sides of the glass, rather it rose taller and mightier with pride. heavy abbey aromas of dusty cherries and mahogany. sweet and ripe berries in the sip, mellow and very pleasing do drink quickly. few BSAs allow for this.
