| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 27, 2008 bottle 11.2 oz. with a notch in the #3. Pale, clear brown/mahogany with a fair pale beige head that fell to a thin film fairly quick, plenty of large bubble carbonation initially, no lace. Aroma is the usual cooked sugars, Belgian yeast, and roasted malt w some spice and a touch of mild dry hops, there is a nice almost teakwood perfumy aroma as it warms. Flavor is the same with a nice toasted sense of malt/grain towards the finish. Moderately sweet (not overly sweet) with a nice mild nip of bitterness. Into medium bodied. Alcohol is very well integrated. This beer is OK but I won’t seek it. greenhorn1 (462), Mission Viejo, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 25, 2008 330 ml bottle. Pours dark mahogany, big head, tons-o-carbonation. Aroma is sweet, dark fruits, and yeast. Flavor is similiar...blah blah blah. It seems that everyone had the similiar experience, so I will not bore you with anymore details. Not a bad belgian strong ale. ilovedarkbeer (1367), Dallas, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 23, 2008 Pours a dark brown color with amber lacing and a gigantic white creamy head. Drank from a Duvel tulip that made this beer a monster. Smells of dark fruit, yeast, and belgian candi sugar. Tates of the same with a strange metallic bubble gum aftertaste. Good but not great. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 21, 2008 From a bottle. Pours a hazy copper color. Aroma of dark fruits and yeast. Flavor similiar to the nose, dark fruits, candied fruits and some yeast. Alot of carbonation. Goodgrief (1161), Middletown, Delaware, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 20, 2008 March 2006 - This was a tad disappointing. Beer was crystal clear at the beginning of the pour, but was a cloudy copperish color with nice head and lacing at the end of the pour. The aroma was mediciny alcohol. The flavor had a burnt woodchip flavor as well as the typical Belgian dark fruits and candied sugar. I wasn’t a fan of the smokiness of this beer. It reminded of the DFH Chicory Stout...but that flavor worked better in a stout than a Belgian. yespr (12411), Copenhagen O, Denmark

Caramel, fruity and mild yeasty aroma. Flavour is sweet, plum to dried fruit with a light apple touch. Mellow yeasty note too. Lingering fruity note into the finish, quite smooth finish. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 19, 2008 Pours a very dark amber/copper with a thin off-white head. Aroma is mostly spicy malts and Belgian yeast, with some alcohol and dark sweet fruits also. The taste is quite sweet with some background spice and Belgian twang. Some heat comes in on the finish. Not nearly as complex as compared with other stong Belgians, but still decent. Alcohol is quite apparent for 8.5%.
