aenimopiate (130), The United States of Texas, Texas, USA Jul 17, 2008 Had this beer a couple years ago, and I can’t believe I forgot to rate it then. This is a very good beer; darker than the tremens and has a flavor to accompany the shade of the beer. It tastes strongly of dark fruits and nuts, with a hint of yeast. I really enjoyed this beer, and I have another in my hand as I type this.
tarheels86 (149), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Nov 21, 2008 330 mL bottle. A mega disappointment. After the likes of Tremens and Noël, this is not the dark version I was hoping for. Pours a dark ruby red with a modest off-white head. Aromas of dark fruit, cloves, coriander, alcohol. Taste is red licorice, red grapes, raisins, black cherries. Aftertaste is sour and sort of like cardboard. Very dull and unmemorable compared to other Belgians- especially upsetting since these are so damn expensive. mwelsh13 (225), Maryland, USA Oct 31, 2008 Medium brown pour with a sparse head. Yeasty aroma lead to a sweet medium body. Dark fruits, maybe cherry. Slightly thick, but very good on a Halloween night. monkeychugg55 (3), Joliet, Illinois, USA does not count Oct 29, 2008 750ml bottle Pours a dark ruby red with a foamy tan head. Scent of light fruit, grapes, and yeast. Flavor is malty and very sweet, with a hint of grapes and caramel. A little too sweet for my tastes, but not bad. jezmez68 (288), Chesterton, Indiana, USA Oct 27, 2008 Brown with a slight red tint, small whitish head. From a bottle like the one shown in the photo. Had a bubblegum scent. Tastes of licorice, fruit, tangy finish. Decent. scoth (30), Fort Collins, Colorado, USA Oct 27, 2008 Bottle. Pours slightly cloudy brown-amber with a medium-thin off-white head. Big bubbles, some lacing. Smells sweet of raisins, figs, apples, caramel. Medium body, sharp and crisp. Flavor is quite fruity, a nice balance of sour than sweet. Almost like a sour ale or lambic in character. Mild hops flavor, hay and citrus.
