emerica56 (434), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Apr 15, 2008 When poured out into a trappist glass the color was of a caramel orange with a nice white head to it. the nose was of sweet apricots and other light fruity esters followed by some pepper bitter hops. The flavor initially was very peppery and tart on your tounge. Although you could really taste those light fruits in the back of your palate. the booze was kind of hidden but you knew it was there in the first few sips.
posikyle (153), Alabama, USA Jul 18, 2008 Pours dark brown, with a thick head and a big fruity aroma. Flavor is sweet malts in the front, raisins in the middle and a bit of a lingering finish. Hardly any hop profile. A definite one to pick up. aenimopiate (124), The United States of Texas, Texas, USA Jul 17, 2008 Had this beer a couple years ago, and I can’t believe I forgot to rate it then. This is a very good beer; darker than the tremens and has a flavor to accompany the shade of the beer. It tastes strongly of dark fruits and nuts, with a hint of yeast. I really enjoyed this beer, and I have another in my hand as I type this. metsbcd (79), Connecticut, USA Jul 15, 2008 Pretty solid beer. Tasty belgian ale, nothing real different for the style but good. The only real knock is that there wasn’t much of an aftertaste. The aftertaste kind of tasted like a standard beer. aubreya (648), Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA Jul 13, 2008 The color was a rich ruby. The head was thick, foamy, and light beige. The aroma was sweet, spicy, and malty. The flavor was the same. The palate was thick-bodied. The finish was spice. kidmartinek (653), austin, Texas, USA Jul 13, 2008 The foamiest beer I have ever seen. Dark brown beer with a lot of suspended sediment visible when held to light. The head is tan and dense and frothy and foamy. The aroma is of belgian yeast and dark brown belgian sugar. The taste is mellow dark sugar with woodtones, and a smoothness that’s very unique for a big beer. Beer comes of with a medium body and a sourness that make ya pucker. The finish is unfortunately a little metallic.
