FishManLA (140), Abita Springs, Louisiana, USA May 2, 2008 Pours a very dark brown/amber with a large, tan, persistent head. Complex and potent nose of yeast, malt, fruit, and nuts. Taste is very complex as well with malt, fruit, nut, caramel, coffee and raisin notes. Finish is fruity, caramelly, bitter-sweet.
kiefdog (270), Tampa, Florida, USA Jun 29, 2008 33cl bottle from Total Wine (Tampa, FL). Pours a rich dark reddish brown with a one finger tan head. Smells of malt bread, raisins, grapes. Alcohol comes through a bit in aroma and taste. Flavor is earthy and malty, ginger, caramel with rich malty finish. Medium-body. phishpond417 (1110), Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA Jun 29, 2008 This tastey beer poured a caramel coloured brown colour with a huge vanilla head. Aroma was sweet, definately nutty, carmel and a little chocolate. hops were soft, very full mouthfeel plenty of carbonation. overall, very nice! cking (702), North Canton, Ohio, USA Jun 25, 2008 2008 as stated on the cork, 8.5% abv per the label. Remarkable deal from the local grocer, methinks this was priced the same as the smaller Tremens bottles. Somewhat clear amber color with a medium sized tight tan head. Stings of thin lacing make their way around and down the glass. Sweet bread aroma along with some earthy mustiness. On the thinner side for this style, sweet to the taste buds and finishes with a crisp emptiness. Very mild alcohol presence. Flavor is underdeveloped at first, but much more complexity becomes noticed as this beer is given time to open up. An airy fruitiness packing tastes of raisins, strawberries, figs and banana. Belgian yeast provides a good earthiness to counter the sweetness. Pleasant floral quality along with an underlying bitterness. It’s a nice sipper, but a touch too thin and underwhelming to really stand out. espenra (56), Oslo, Norway Jun 23, 2008 33cl bottle from Belgianshop.com. It poured a dark brown colour with a medium head. The aroma is fruity roasted malts. It is a dry and bitter flavour that tastes of bananas, malts and alcohol.
It has a lingering aftertaste. BeerGestapo (229), Windsor, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 20, 2008 Updated: Jun 26, 2008(Belgium) Pours a nice dark brown color with a dissipating tan head. Aroma is of dry fruits and dark malts. And the taste is spritzy with a malty, plum, citrus flavor. The finish is dry and you can taste a hint of the alcohol. Very enjoyable and recommended Also, the bottle is pretty damn cool too.
