Taste is classic belgian yeast and malt, a nice xmas cake style spiciness and sweetness, with a warming alcohol finish. Very enjoyable, and the spice is pleasant. beerbill (1938), Laurel, New York, USA

Pours a slightly hazed reddish amber with a moderate off-white head that lasted through the first half of the glass and left partial lace. Pleasant aroma of malt, yeast, candi sugar, and dates. The flavor is again malt, yeast, candi sugar, and dates, but it is sweeter than the aroma and not as yeasty. Warming alcohol burn at the finish. There is a bit of fresh bread in the aftertaste several seconds after the swallow. Enjoyable. tgncc (809), Bellmore, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Dec 26, 2008 Updated: Dec 27, 2008The aroma is of fruit, alcohol. yeast. The appearance is a dark red/brown, decent off-white head. The flavor is fruity, yeasty, bread-like. The finish is slightly bitter from both the hops and the spicy quality of this ale. The alcohol is well hidden, and the mouthfeel is medium. Decent holiday ale. tsetlock (66), Livonia, Michigan, USA
