yayforbeer (641), Orange Park, Florida, USA Dec 3, 2006 Sampled at Broudy’s Holiday Beerfest, Jacksonville FL 12/2/2006. Orange-amber colored beer with a delightful nose. Belgian yeast and spicy aroma. Flavor was much to my liking and just right for a Christmas beer. The Belgian yeast and candy and spices came together with the high abv to make a perfect holiday warmer. Delicious. tennisjoel (931), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA Dec 3, 2006 2005 vintage. Pours a dirty orange reddish color. Particalia floating throughout (which by the way does not normally bother me). Banana/clove, but a high spice presence (cinnamon, nutmeg) makes its way to the nose. Great nose here. Nice flavors which are pretty balanced. The negative here is that the beer becomes slightly cloying. I like this better than Pawal Kwak though. Has some of the same characteristics as that beer, but the flavor is better. Kwak was a drain pour, this is drinkable. Okay beer, but I don’t plan on spending close to $10 for one of these in the future. wickedpete (625), Lexington Park, Maryland, USA Dec 3, 2006 Fruity sweet aroma and rich red color. The flavor was a little sour and otherwise typically Belgian. Very warming and fairly pleasant. DuffLover (48), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA Dec 2, 2006 It’s that time of year. Aroma of green apple and other fruits. Hazy tan/brown color with a decent light tan head. Flavor of fruits and spices - very festive. Palate was a little fizzy. Overall a good, atypical seasonal. thewolf (5635), Kolding, Denmark Dec 2, 2006 Updated: Jan 24, 2008Bottle. Pours deliciously dark burgundy with first a fizzy head that settles as a ½ cm off-white cream on top. Stunning aroma - berries, coriander, yeast and sweetness. Much fuller than you’d expect. Flavours begind sweet with heavy malty tones - quite musty. Then the fruityness prevails ending with subtle bitterness (in a toffee way) with an alcoholic tone at the end. zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Dec 2, 2006 Bottle. Pours hazy caramel, off white head. Aroma is fruit, malt, spices. Flavor is very fruity, malt, spices. Aurelius (2643), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Dec 1, 2006 Big beer aroma - stewed fruity, candied, brown sugar, a bit musty, alcohol. Fun label, faux-crockery bottle, red foil covered cork-n-cradle, mostly clear medium brown beer, thin head earn good appearance marks. Too tart. Spicy and warming, woody bittering, not too sweet, vanilla. Tart-bitter finish with some candied/caramelized aftertastes. Technically good, I didn’t enjoy it as much as I was hoping. smartlung (154), Valrico, Florida, USA Nov 30, 2006 from Total Wine - thin dark head, spicy with coriander, full with malty body and cant put my finger on all the other spices, finishes very smooth with lite alcohol but you feel the warmth. Most enjoyable and my 3 brothers enjoyed this the most of all beers tried so far.
