bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Dec 27, 2005 Bottle. Copper/amber colored beer with a big off-white head. Yeasty, malty aroma. Very rich malt and stone fruit flavor with lots of spicey yeast. Easy drinking for 10% and the alcohol is fairly well hidden. DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Dec 26, 2005 A spicey, malt, yeast aroma, cloudy, pomegranate colour, pours a huge, rocky custard head, a continuous stream of bubbles. Candied malt flavour, treacle, red plums, grapefruit, metalic notes, yeast and almonds. Medium bodied, very well balanced, complex, warming to the tongue, pleasantly sweet, dangerously easy to drink, nicely bitter. Wonderful! Joyeux Noel. ElBorracho (472), Chicago, Illinois, USA Dec 26, 2005 On tap at The Map Room. Clear amber with a nice looking frothy head. Dark fruit and sour cherries that give way to a nice warm finish. A nice winter brew. TomDecapolis (3130), Skippack, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 25, 2005 Enjoyed this one on Christmas Eve 2005. Pours a hazy brownish amber with a small off white nicely lacing head. Aroma of spicy belgian yeast, dark fruits, citrus, apples, cherries and caramel. Flavor of sweet apples, caramel and a few of the other things I was picking up in the aroma. A nice Belgian Strong Ale for sure. Kevster (222), Bradenton, Florida, USA Dec 25, 2005 Pours red copper with a frothy off-white head and nice lacing on the glass. Alcohol is evident in the aroma and has hints of apples and spices. Flavor is sweet with creamy sour finish. A nice Christmas brew! OhioDad (2491), Hilliard, Ohio, USA Dec 25, 2005 750ml bottle bought 1 year ago after Christmas and cellared pour a dark copper with a creamy offwhite head that stays very well and laces the sides of the Trappist Glass. Aroma is apple, candied sugar, caramel malt and some vegetal residue. Flavor is nice and sweet brown sugar, apple, caramel malt and a touch of cinnamon. Palate is light airy and very nice in the mouth like velvet. Very trappist-like. No sign of the alcohol in the flavor but you can sure feel the warmth. Nice brew for sure. Lubiere (4463), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Dec 25, 2005 Red copper ale with a thick white head. Aroma of boiled vegetables, sweet corn, very DMS, and alcohol. In mouth, sweet malt, gin alcohol, and light spicey notes. Watery bodied and uninspiring. Enjoyed at YEHa!05 Christmas Party on Dec. 17th, 2005.
