Draught. At Cole’s, in Buffalo NY. Poured deep clear mahogany with a smallish off-white head. Aroma of Christmas spices (nutmeg, cinnamon), fruit cake, deep roast caramel malt, noticeable alcohol. Flavour is also spices and fruit, lighter roast caramel malt, stronger alcohol and unfortunately a touch of metal, with an unpleasant sourness developing as it warmed. Mouthfeel syrupy, a bit harsh, salty even. Not bad, but better as aromatherapy - just sniff it and mellow out.

Wow, amazing complexity. Sour at first, but the candied sugar jumps out at you afterwards, and makes this one amazingly balanced brew. I wish I had another right now to drink...

Beautiful clear mahogany with a medium off-white head. Aroma of spiciness, yeast, banana, dark fruits and floral hops. Flavor has notes of cherry, plum, raisin, caramel/toastiness, banana, orange peel, lemon/citrus and noble hops. Pleasantly sweet, has ample hop bitterness to balance everything out. Full and round body with very lively, spritzy carbonation. Quite enjoyable.

Spicy and peppery nose with a touch of fruit and nots. Somewhat acidic and candied palate with dark fruits and cookie notes. Medium head retention with good lacing. Candy sugar prominence with a touch of sea salt on the palate.

’03 bottle. Dark brown with a decent sized light tan head. Aroma of spice an pepper to go along with raisens. Taste is stiff pretty fresh with apricot, mango, pear, green apple and caramel. Starting to lose some of its luster and the alcohol is maked pretty nicely. Body is medium to full with a stickiness.

On tap. Dark reddish brown colour with a lace head. Nice sweet aroma of berries. Really great flavour of malt and some blend spices.

I was a little disappointed with this beer. Kind of a sour aroma and and a bad aftertaste. I won’t buy this one again
