KnutAlbert (3101), Oslo, Norway Nov 8, 2005 Clear amber clour, surprisingly light for 10% A very good Belgian ale, while not very Christmassy? Skinnyviking (4142), Copenhagen, Denmark Nov 6, 2005 Dark orange, lang lasting white head, sour, long aftertaste. Maybe served too warm. tronraner (1905), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Oct 23, 2005 Bottle. Pours a cloudy deep orange-red with a few black floaties and a thin, but retentive, whitish head. The aroma is orange zest, clove, some malt, and other spices. There is a caramel sweet maltiness up front, with a quick hit of the alcohol close behind. There are a lot of autumnal spices detectable, and the finish is largely clove and maybe cinnamon. This is definitely good for drinking in the cold around a fire. NachlamSie (1630), Tennessee, USA Oct 23, 2005 Updated: Dec 30, 2005bottle. I definitely had to revisit this beer while the season is still here. pours a very cloudy dark orange with a sturdy white head and plenty of floaties. The aroma is of peaches, dry citrus, and a little sweet malt. The flavor is nicely complex, some cloves, nutmeg, a little honey. It’s very spicy and warming. Perfectly appropriate for the winter season. Not much alcohol burn for the %. This is moderately aggressive., certainly not too bad. johndoughty (2150), cheslyn hay, West Midlands, England Sep 1, 2005 Spicey and very christmas like. Strong alcohol presence and traces of fruit and a lot of other things. Not to be gulped-drinky slowly and enjoy. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA Aug 11, 2005 Updated: Jan 3, 2006Keith-Typical Delirium taste for the most part. Stong aroma, but nothing special. Typical christmas additives like fig, nutmeg, and spice. Tasty and worth a try.
Eric-Man, i had a friend bring a bottle from 2001 over the other night-what a treat! pours deep mahogony amber with a very light sudsy white head. much less carbonation than i was expecting. aroma of vineous cherries, light dusty esters, light funk, candy sugar, dark belgian malts0lots of dark fruit here! Wow! flavors of sugar coated cherries, big belgian malts and some nice brown spices. This aged so nicely. not any oxidized flavors, just a more round feel to it all. Alcohol is much lighter than when fresh. Man, this is a treat! veronika (410), Sweden Aug 8, 2005 Hazy amber, nice head. Aroma from figs, red wine and almond. Figs in flavor, nutty, floral and with some alcohol. Vanilla in the finish. BBB63 (4198), La Porte, Indiana, USA Aug 6, 2005 A well aged corked bottle that I have had around for quite some time and just now got around to drinking, served in my St Bernardus chalice, some cork leakage detected on the bottle:
Displays a deep bronze hue with a quickly disappearing fizzy head but traces of carbonation still come forth, leaves a oily film on the glassware. The aroma has notes of ripe apricot and fig, juniper berry and light coriander, caramelized and bready malts, honey and other earthy and vinous esters. The taste starts with sweet ripened fruits and heavy malting with an interesting twang on the sides of the tongue that is both spicy and even a bit salty. There is a bit of sherry like note giving a vinous quality to the finish. While the beer is warming, it is not powerful and seem to flame out at the end. The aftertaste had both lingering white pepper and honey notes. Smooth and lush but much like the taste it falls just short of a knockout. Aging may have mellowed it out too much, I don’t know. My least favorite of the three Delirium releases but still worthy of another try .
