Hazy dark brown coloured body with crimson highlihgts and a thinnish off-white head. Aroma of yeast, curacao, coriander seed and honey. Medium-bodied; Strong sweetness-curacao and a bit of spice very noticeable up front. Aftertaste clean, but shows a lot of sugars and yeast. Overall, a nice beer but not my favourite tripel. I sampled this 75 cL bottle purchased by my brother in law earlier in the day from Dean & Deluca in Georgetown (Washington, D.C.) on 09-January-2005.

750ml bottle bought 1 year ago after Christmas and cellared pour a dark copper with a creamy offwhite head that stays very well and laces the sides of the Trappist Glass. Aroma is apple, candied sugar, caramel malt and some vegetal residue. Flavor is nice and sweet brown sugar, apple, caramel malt and a touch of cinnamon. Palate is light airy and very nice in the mouth like velvet. Very trappist-like. No sign of the alcohol in the flavor but you can sure feel the warmth. Nice brew for sure.

Bottle: Hazy brown orange with a thin white head, starts and ends sweet, aroma has apples, spices and bread. Watch out for the cork, mine hit the celling and came back fast. Great beer, but for the price I’d rather have two Unibroue’s

2002 bottle, Sampled January, 2004
This holiday beer pours a pretty amber-deep copper color that is quite striking in the light. It is topped by a thick tan head. It is well carbonated with bubbles escaping from the bottom of my glass in a frenzied stream. Smells lightly musty with dark fruit overtones that are accompanied by a slightly sharp spicy aroma. Tastes smooth and rich up front. A prickling carbonation coats the tongue as it slides down my throat. Finishes with a musty-yeasty-fusel type character which is a bit sharp. The fruitiness of this beer combines really well with the sweet-caramel-raisin dark malt character. This beer is dominated by the dark fruit character. It has a medium light body, which works well here. There is also some spice notes in this beer that remind me of coriander.

A bit confused about this one... hints at spice, but a dull malt is the only product in the aftertaste. Not the best Belgian out there. Mediocre.

Suprisingly good. Malt and raisons in the nose. Brown body with hints of red. Malt and chocolate flavor. Thick like syrup.
