Malty flavor with apples and red berries. Nutty bitter aftertaste. I really don't understand the high ratings. The beer isn't well balanced at all. The alcohol dominates. thewolf (5764), Kolding, Denmark

Pours deliciously dark burgundy with first a fizzy head that settles as a ½ cm off-white cream on top. Stunning aroma - berries, coriander, yeast and sweetness. Much fuller than you’d expect. Flavours begind sweet with heavy malty tones - quite musty. Then the fruityness prevails ending with subtle bitterness (in a toffee way) with an alcoholic tone at the end. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Oct 25, 2004 Nice white 750mL bottle. Appearance is darkish orange, very ncie color actually although the head is limited to an off-white ring. Extremely sweet and phenolic aroma, tons of belgian candi sugar, powder sugar even. It feels very candyish yet has a big yeast backbone though seemingly not adding much to the melting pot. Surprisingly thin body, like thicker sparkling water. Huge sweetness on the tongue in an herbal fashion(clover and the likes). Very warming sensation, spicy alcoholic middle-mouth to finish. Notes of honey, sucre d’orge, plums. A bit cloying. bu11zeye (5510), Frisco, Texas, USA

Pours a medium brown with amber highlights and a medium-sized beige head. Has a fruity, caramel, and spicy flavors with a hint of port.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 24, 2002 Pours a medium copper color with an alcoholic butterscotchy aroma. The flavor was a bit harsh, but improved as it warmed around room temperature. Semi-sweet and moderately smooth, this does not conceal its alcohol as well as it could. It leaves a slight burning in the back of my throat, but did go well with some peanut brittle. hopscotch (5490), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Nov 26, 2008 Bottle... Mostly clear, burnt orange ale with tons of tiny, opaque floaties tooling about. Small, fluffy, off-white head that has big-time staying power. Biscuity, sweaty aroma. Full-bodied with gentle carbonation. Very sweet, boozy and fruity. Moderate bitterness. Tangy, warming finish. Bottle provided by mgumby10! duff (5475), Surrey, Greater London, England
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 3, 2004 750ml champagne corked bottle under the name "Delrium Christmas". Crimson/brown colour. Aroma of cork, rubber and glace cherry, some fairy floss. Pretty sweet, but not as sweet as expected, but, as expected theirs a pretty big shot of alcohol at the end. Palate is a little short and one dimesnional aswell, some spicyness, yeasty. Dissapointing, and a bit "crude" as silktork would say. I guess it was kind of what i expected though, typical Huyghe- i.e pretty lame. This stuff ain't cheap either, bloody hell. Bov (5455), Bienne, Switzerland
