Light bitter aroma. Spicy & sweet. Cherry skin, pear, & fruity. Dark ruby brown & bit cloudy with lacing off-white head. Medium carb & body. Sweet malt. Fruity, port, yeast. Alcohol. Spicy, pepper. Sweet heavy finish & nutty sweet after. Light bitter.

2002 750ml bottle. Big but loose head, Malty and spice Aroma. Full body, apples, a little yeast, spices and Caramel. Beautiful aftertaste, great beer though. Pink Elephants, this is very upsetting.

(750 ml. bottle @ The Real Beer Expo - Rochester, NY) Orange/amber in color with a puffy and lasting white head. Aroma is loaded with malts, spices, yeast, caramel, and some plums. Flavor is very smooth and malty with some nice dark fruit flavors and a spicy finish. Very warming, even though the 10% is hidden well. Aftertaste is very dark and malty with some sweetness.

Compared to mother strong Belgian ales its fairs about average. Little white head, dark amber color and full spicy palate. Alcohol peaks through slightly.

2008 Bottle. Faint aroma that seemed unbalanced and...fizzy? Appeared beautiful amber brown with light cream lacing. Tastes well, very balanced palate, with hints of chocolate and rye. Very enjoyable beer...this brewery simply does not make a poor product.

Bottle. Nose smells like candy apples. Sweet brown sugar taste. Has an after taste like honey and brown sugar together. There is a lot more going on here, but I can’t describe it. Prune, candi sugar, malt, apple, and spice come together perfectly. This is very, very good.

2005 corked and caged. Semi hazy, particulate suspended burnt orange. Nose is fantastic deep fruity, with no traces of alcohol. Flavors of light smoke, anise, oak, vanilla, and a plethera of other flavors. Truly a great brew.

Initital metallic taste followed by a high-quality spicy ale like only the Belgians can do. Nice alcohol burn for those who dig it. This stuff is on par with Bernardus 8.
