2007 Vintage. Cork "pop" was somewhat subdued but the beer was still well carbonated. Very dark thick amber with a fair soft head. Aroma of candy sugar, caramel and alcohol with some nice spice notes that register later. Tastes just like the aroma. Sweet, light syrup, caramel and soft spice. Just a bit of alcohol burn in the finish.

Bottle as shown. Pours a clear amber with a small off white head that diminishes quickly leaving sticky lacing and a lot of carbonation. The aroma is a sweet fruit with plum and light spice. Medium mouthfeel with a sweet fruit malt with brown sugar and light caramel hiding the alcohol very well making it easy to drink. Enjoyed this one on Christmas 09’

750 ml bottle. 2008 vintage. Aroma is Belgian but very faint. Pours reddish amber with a nice, long-lasting milky-looking head. Lots of sediment. Beautiful looking beer. Tastes very Belgian; strong alcohol presence. Sweet, then bitter. Creamy, full-bodied mouthfeel. Medium carbonation. Excellent beer. Rating would (and should) be higher, but the almost non-existant aroma brought the score down.

Very nice pour, dark brown with sparse off white foam head. The aroma is earthy and strong. The flavor has barley and a little bit a caramel in there, that’s what I detected anyway. Cheerz to Christmas.

Pours a deep murky ruddy color with a nice creamy head which remains for some time. Smells of sweet caramel upfront followed by a metallic aroma. Typical Belgian Strong Ale aromas of dark fruits, the rich candied malts, and The flavor is a bit sweet at first with sugars. There seems to be an overriding metallic flavor which is difficult to get past. The finish is strongly metallilc as well. But as the beer warms up, the metal seems to subside and other sweeter notes seem to come out.

11.2oz bottle poured into a Trappist glass. This was a gift from my wife. Yeah Wife!! DN pous muddy river brown with huge chucks of pulp and a little head. Although it’s ugly it’s still appealing. The aroma is sweet with raisins and alcohol. The body is soft and easy going. There are lots of fruit flavors in here; included are raisin, peaches. There is a warming alcohol finish. As expected, this is a wonderful beer.
