Commercial Description:
Bottle Conditioned.
Launched on December 26th 1989 @ 9% abv. Abv reduced from 9% to 8.5% in 2003.
The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

Bottle. (Thanks to Blake!) Pours a dark golden color with a long lasting white head. Citrus fruit on the nose. Taste is also fruity, mild sweetness and a hint of bitter/tart.

(Bottle from Fat Cat, Norwich) Golden orange with small white head. Flowery yeasty hops on the nose, hint of lemon and other citrus plus a little sourness. Smooth initial taste with a bitter sweet finish. Alcohol warms as I drink. A bit of soft fruit with some bitter hops. A little syrup like. Very carbonated. Refreshing yet fairly full tasting. A good belgian ale, if not the best I’ve had.

Bottle from The Beer Engine Lakewood, OH. Pours clear medium yellow with a white head that disappears quickly. Slightly carbonated citrusy/tangerine aroma with sweet malty citrus flavor. The flavor seems to be a combo of this tangerine accent with a base of sweet young grass and hops, refreshing.

honey yellow with a small white head that leaves some clinging foam. Aromas of vinegar, sugar, bubblegum, floral, and citrus. Tastes slightly of bubblegum, also, as well as tart cherries, spices, and grassy hops. Bit of a bitter finish. Quite interesting.

This beer was the 2nd Belgium beer that I had ever tried. It was a sequel to Chimay Red earlier in the evening. With all the hype on this brew, I was somewhat expecting a lot. It poured a nice golden yellow with high white head. I picked up a lot of citrus tones on smell along with taste. I was very surprised at the high alcohol content and the absence of alcohol taste. Very smooth, extremely drinkable beer, however between this and the Chimay Red, I have to say for my taste, the Red is a little better. However I will most certainly buy this again.

A light, delicate, golden appearance. Candy alcohol aroma. Grassy, floral, perfumed, weightless body. A complex, buzz-inducing, enjoyable brew.
