Commercial Description:
Bottle Conditioned.
Launched on December 26th 1989 @ 9% abv. Abv reduced from 9% to 8.5% in 2003.
The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

330ml bottle. Hazy golden body with a big, foamy off-white head. Aroma is fruity, spicy, yeast. Flavor is sweet malty, lots of refreshing fruit and a rather alcoholic finish. There is some kind of bitterness here as well, but not hoppy, more like from harsh fruit. The beer is nice, quite sweet but compensated with refreshing fruit, medium body, and a nice finish. Maybe a bit to much alcohol in the aftertaste.

330ml bottle from Dan Murphy’s into a Trappist glass. It comes in a garish ceramic bottle that doesn’t bode well but it turns out to be a fine Belgian ale. A cloudy golden liquid with lots of floaty bits and a huge rocky white head. Healthy aromas of citrus fruits and sweet bready malts. Smooth on the palate with similar flavours to the nose. Some banana and peaches in there as well. Thickish mouthfeel with a medium sweet spicy finish. Not as good as a Duvel though.

Light honey colored brew with a sticky meringue head that left significant lacing on the inside of the glass. Yeasty, lemon biscuit aroma and a flavor. Flavor is sweeter than you would expect but the lemony sourness finds the palate...creamy and filling. Decent beer but would have to be in the mood.

Pours golden yellow/orange with a ton of hazy yeast and a thick white head. Aroma of hay, yeast, spice, and a hint of lemon. Flavor is light malts, yeast, spice, and a touch of funk. Finishes dry and spicy. A lot of carbonation on the mouthfeel. This is ok, but definitely not the best beer in the world.

2008 Bottle: Pours a slightly hazy gold with a tall white head, try to avoid all the yeast sediment. Looks and smells more like a tripel. Strong bready yeast aromas as well as lemon and grapefruit citrus. Nice creamy mouthfeel with a lot of carbonation. The tart but slightly sweet citrus flavors are upfront with a drier finish that lingers with a flavor of pink elephant. Not very style fitting if you ask me.

On tap at Chumley’s Pours yellow and hazy with white head. Smells of appropriate phenols, sweet malts, and apricots - great! The flavor is really good, it’s spicy, peppery, sweet, with a bit of funk and a sweet aftertaste. Palate is thick and foamy. Another excellent brew.

Trappist glass. Pale brass on the pour, with a light white head(resilient). Boozy sweet aroma with some sweet fruits and tons of yeast. Unremarkable boozy flavor, some banana, some other floral/fruit tones. Long lasting alcohol burn like a brandy.
