Commercial Description:
Bottle Conditioned.
Launched on December 26th 1989 @ 9% abv. Abv reduced from 9% to 8.5% in 2003.
The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

Bottle (330ml). Poured a hazy golden yellow with a huge, foamy white head which was fully lasting (a superb looking beer). Aroma was of sweet yeasty malts with banana smoothie, pears, orange peel, coriander, cinnamon and freshly cracked pepper. Flavor was similar to aroma with sweet yeasty malts, mild bitterness, pears, grapes, banana, coriander, cinnamon, orange peel and some straw. Alcohol content was amazingly well hidden one would think it was 5 %– 6%. Medium bodied with lively carbonation, dry mouthfeel somewhat syrupy texture and a good finish.

Bottle at Bottlescrew Bills Calgary, AB. Large foamy white head. Hints of fruit in taste and smell. The beer is a hazy orange colour. The high alcohol content is unnoticable due to the great flavour.

Pours a hazey cloudy but bright yellow colour. Head is fairly large and off white. Flavors are pleasent, creamy mouthfeel with slightly sweet finish and a hint of spice. Peach, orange and nectarine in the aroma.

A friend recommended trying this one. Claims it went down like a glass of wine. And I had to agree it did remind me of a wine. Paired nicely with our meals Not to heavy or bitter.

Draft at Thorups Kælder. Big, creamy white head with fair lacing. Yellow, light cloudy body. Nice malt aroma of grain and hay. Fruity. It has a medium body, and a creamy texture, some bitter finish. Good flavor, medium sweet and medium bitter.

330ml bottle (St. Urho’s, Helsinki)
Gold, healthy self-supporting head. Sweet fruity and peppery hop aroma. Soft palate, light carbonation. Fruity and light taste, sweet and estery. Some hops too, and a bit of banana yeastiness and toffee. Then more noble hops. Long finish. Can’t quite hide the 8.5%, but it’s not a boozy drink at all. Solid strong Belgian.

0.33 l bottle. Slightly hazy peach color with small head. Tart fruit, phenols, orange and herbal hops in the aroma. Orange, pineapple, grapefruit, phenols, herbal hops, firm bitterness and sharp alcohol in the flavor. Sweet initially but finishes dry. A bit too sharp flavor.

I had never heard of Delirium until I visited California. I ended up enjoying quite a few during my visit.
