Commercial Description:
Bottle Conditioned.
Launched on December 26th 1989 @ 9% abv. Abv reduced from 9% to 8.5% in 2003.
The particular character and the unique taste of "Delirium Tremens" result from the use of three different kinds of yeast. Its very original packing, which resembles cologne ceramics, and the colourful label contribute to its success.
In 1997, Stuart A. Kallen nominated Delirium Tremens as "best beer in the world". A gold medal during the "world beer championships" in Chicago (1998) confirmed that worldwide recognition.

Pours a golden-orange color with big white head and lots of yeast particles. Fruity sweet aroma. Flavor is slightly sweet with some fruity and citrusty flavors. Medium body with fizzy carbonation. One of the first Belgians I tried and it is still one I can drink any time.

Wow. Truly cant believe I havent tried this one yet. Poured from bottle. Cloudy and heavily laden with yeast particles. Orange in color. Large foamy head. Very spicy smell of cloves, lemons, and oranges. Taste was very heavily spiced. Same cloves, apples, bread and even a peppery aftertaste. Alcohol was definitely present and felt. A very nice belgian.

Pours a lazy yellow color with a hazy chill. A fantastic head retention that lasted throughout the drink as a whole. Really no gaps. The lacing was good but did decrease over time. The smell with fruity with a mix of Belgium sweetness and a campaign feel to it. Some apples and peach mix with a flowery nose mixed with honey. Some phenol smells but rather light for a high ABV. The taste is great. A complex malt but more of a lighter Belgium pale was noticeable. Stronger esters and a good banana flavor are present. A smoothness to it with some lighter spice flavor, mostly coriander. Lighter fig taste with an apple tart rounds out a great tasting Belgian beer. The hops blend smoothly with the malt and a more noted candy flavor overall. A great tasting Belgium. Overall the taste is very smooth with medium to light carbonation. The beer is very easy to drink with a hidden high ABV to it. Great taste and such a smoothness that not all Belgians can do.

Wow what a lot of suspended matter in the actual brew itself. The color is a cloudy orange but light still passes through it. The nose is full of belgin yeast and light fruit. There is a lot of carbonation initially but it tends to fade as you drink the beer. Flavor is a bit sweet with hints of honey and lemon followed by some booze and a mild hop bitterness. The finish is very acidic but still has that sweet mellow complexity that makes the finish seem and not that bland.

At Three cellars tasting. My coworker had been rambling on about this one for days leading up to the tasting so maybe I bought into the hype as I was a little let down. Not bad, just not earth-shattering. I guess we all have our own opinions. Dry and Malty, Off-yellow (is that a color?) with a small head. Some lemon in there. Not too bad, not too good.

I found this beer to be light yet full of flavor. An average example of one of my favorite beer regions.

This was a draft beer at a local bar in Virginia. It poured a hazy blonde with a generous white head. The aroma reminded me of an orange with many cloves stuck into it. The taste was bitter and peppery. This is an interesting beer, with the sweet aroma followed by the spicy brew. The alcohol is hidden well.
