Dempseys Ugly Dog Stout

A clear dark brown stout with a thin moka head. A nice bitter chocolate aroma with caramel and butterscotch notes. In mouth, nice mineral chocolate, short in mouth, powdery and bitter. Not bad. On tap at brewpub, August 16 2009.

Clear brown with a fizzy tan head. Toasty oat aroma and a dry sweet chocolate and roasty taste.

On tap @ Dempseys Poured a clear dark brown with a lingering ring of tan foam. Aromas of roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate and light fruittiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, coffee and dark chocolate with a smooth lingering roasty finish.

Chocolate, caramel, butterscotch, very roasty with alcohol present. Nice body to it.

First one eh? I just got lucky and happened upon this place while on vacation. Vacation with the kids, and I actually got to visit ONE brewpub. Dark brown pour with practically no head. Aromas were weak. Not enough of the stuff I like, but the flavor was much better. Unsweetened coffe, and some bitter chocolate with a decent hop balance. Pretty good sample
