JorisPPattyn (4642), Antwerpen, Belgium Jun 10, 2008 Medium but very nicely stable cream-coloured head over hazy chestnut beer. Discreet, but nice nose with earthy, dark leaves and pastry notes - some Maillard? Dry, very earthy & leafy taste. Virtually no restsugars, pretty impressive. Bit of ironoxide in the flavour as well - the water? or more Maiilard? Creamy mouthfeel - not overly well-bodied, but certainly not empty. Very good Dunkel - cheerfully abstaining from the dreaded sweetness that plagues many’s the German sample. Thanks to the people providing - they were right about this one! yespr (7788), Copenhagen O, Denmark Nov 26, 2008 50 cL bottle, courtesy of Papsoe/Ungstrup. Slightly metallic with a flavour from caramelle and chocolate. joss (3249), Garching b. München, Germany Aug 25, 2008 Bottle. Chestnut, golden foam. Fresh saaz with light nutty undertones. Malt character stays in the background on this one - a nutty roaastyness with complements a elegant sublte flowery start, light citric notes. Chewy body, light sparkly mouthfeel. Earthy and roasted retronasal. Nice.
