Bottle. Dark brown. A bit thin considering its strength. Some maltiness with a gentle malty finish. No lacing.A pleasant example of a pleasant style.

Bottle from Arden Wines. Rocky cream over russet lacing ornately. Rich leathery rye bread and briny German malt aroma overlaid with honey and milk chocolate. Blossom of hop, fruitcake and black cherry, honeyed malt, sprinkle of rust, rounded chocolate Hobnob aftertaste with some dusty chocolate and lactic sweetness. Alcohol not discernible. Sweet but savoury in that wonderfully German way.

Bottle. Dark brown with an off-white head. Aromas are weetabix and cola with some smokiness and light berries. Flavours are sweet toffee and caramel malts with some chocolate Has decent smokiness. Quite light but a refreshing brew.

bottle, previously rated at BTO: Schlichte Flasche, kein Rückenetikett, Frontetikett aber nett gemacht. Schäumt ordentlich auf, schmeckt getreidig und röstmalzig, Getreidenoten schmeckt man v.a. im Antrunk. Sehr langer Abgang, dafür ist der Nachgeschmack etwas weniger ausgeprägt.

Bottle consumed in a dance tent at Towersey, Oxfordshire, 29-08-09 Pours dark brown with a tan head, tasted chewy and malty, some dark fruits really quite pleasant. I have to confess that this tasting experience was in far from perfect conditions my pewter tankard seemed to flatten the taste a little and I was dancing to Shoogenlifty amongst a heaving mass of folkies, air fiddling for all we were worth. Will pick up another bottle from the Cowley Rd when I get the chance. A6 A3 F6 P3 Ov12
