KAggie97 (2024), Ugly, Hot, and Humid Spring, Texas, USA Oct 7, 2005 Updated: Oct 20, 2005Tap at brewery. Whew! This one smells and tastes as advertised-- bourbon, oak, and hints of smoke. Fantastic beer; one of the best I’ve had. Volgon (2463), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Oct 19, 2003 On tap, Wild Turkey barrel, cask conditioned: This is the best whiskey barrel stout that I've ever had. Brown/black color with a nice head. Light malts and whiskey in the aroma. Full bodied, light bourbon taste at the end that is sweet and well balanced. This tastes like beer with bourbon flavoring, not like a shot was added to the beer like some examples of this style that I've had. Deep rich ending. Well done. crdic (105), California, USA Oct 23, 2003 I had this off the tap last night at the Chophouse in Boulder, Colorado. It was quite nice; black as night, with a soft, smooth, but not very large tan head. It is not as intensely flavored as many stouts, but it isn't bland either. I'm sure I will drink it again. dirtymike (2019), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA Feb 29, 2004 On cask. Black in color with a thick tan head.Malty, sweet, with a touch of bourbon in every sip. harlequinn (2746), Tacoma, Washington, USA Jul 17, 2006 The bartender told me this was conditioned in Wild Turkey barrels. This was a fantastic beer, albeit a little green, I would love to have some of this to lay down and try again after a year or so. Strong alcohol aroma, immediately follwed by vanilla and oak when your nose calms down from the sting it just took. Lots of vanilla, with some nice whisky notes, licorice and a bit of molasses. This is tasty and creamy!
