Canadianlush (169), Scottsdale, Arizona, USA Oct 31, 2007 Poured a nice black but again, not enough head. Couldn’t detect any amoma. Taste is a good one of roasted nuts and barley with hints of butterscotch. Quite malty with a true to form dry finish. Give it a go if you visit this establishment. BeerandBlues2 (2370), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Oct 8, 2007 Draught. Pours black with a small, fizzy, light brown head, diminishing, fair lacing.
Aroma is average malt (molasses, caramel, roasted), light hops (grass), average yeast
(leather) with notes of smoke. Medium bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation and a bitter
finish. Average duration, light sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.
Ernest (4169), Boulder, Colorado, USA Jul 1, 2007 Draught, Denver ChopHouse. Head is mostly lasting. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (roasted grain, chocolate), with a note of minerals. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/velvety texture, lively carbonation. Again, sweeter than it should be, but those kinds of decisions are perhaps sometimes out of the brewer’s domain...Gordon Biersch is in this same boat of having good intentions but pulling the bitterness punch for the sake of the average consumer. BillKismet (1337), Seattle, Washington, USA Jun 30, 2007 Molasses brown color with small head. Nice chestnut brown malt roast flavor.
