Sampled at the brewery. Pours a dark amber color with a large head. Good head retention and lacing. Aroma of toffee, peat, green apple and other fruity notes. Taste is caramel, toasted malts and a fruity finish. Medium bodied.

The aroma is a bit smokey with sour fruit, and toasted malt. The appearance is deep amber almost brown with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma and not too good at first but gets better near the finish. The palate is a bit thin. Overall I am not a fan.

Pours a darkish brown with almost no head. Light aroma of caramel and smoke. Decent flavor, body seems a little watery however.

Draft sample at Knoxville Brew Jam. Poured a brown color with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted caramel malt aroma. Medium body. Medium balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Smooth flavorful brew, my expectations where met.

Sampled at Brewgrass 2007. Poured a mostly clear ruddy brown with a thin white head. Light caramel malt aroma with the faintest hint of some hops. Light bodied, low carbonation. The taste is mostly sweet malt, but little of that hop in the aroma was present in the taste. A decent Scottish.
