<b>Cask</b> <i>At Market Porter</i>. * The Derventio website lists this as a new regular beer, and calls it an Oatmeal Stout. No clue what this was, but "I’m game!" and my pint is pulled - murky red-brown with a decent mottled tan head. The aroma was dominated by cocoa - dry, slightly leafy cocoa, with sweet milkiness as it warmed to room temperature. The taste followed - cocoa, creaminess, with some mild earthy herbal bitterness at the end of the pint. This was quite thick-bodied, soft and dry on the palate, with a little light peat attaching to the chocolate malt in the linger. This could easily be a dessert beer - quite unexpected, and I really enjoyed it.
