Commercial Description:
This hoppy German-style Pilsner is winning the hearts of local brewery loyalists and national award show judges. And its earned the starring role at our anniversary parking lot bash this summer. Moving into the summer months, Deschutes Brewery is celebrating its 18th Anniversary by releasing a Pilsner by the same name. The newest beer in the Bond Street Series, 18th Anniversary Pilsner is a light, refreshing lager that is brewed mostly with Saaz hops from the Czech Republic and 100% Pilsner malt. Eighteenth Anniversary Pilsner might be a bit hoppy for a traditional pilsner but it maintains a delicate flavor profile that showcases our state-of-the-art German brew house and our brewers’ passion for this style of beer.

Pale yellow offering with moderate carbonation. The white head is rather swift to leave. Rather generic maltiness fails to provide a crunchy foundation, no crispness nor solid toastiness to rely upon while the noble hops do not show quite the confidence to make the beer on their own. Honeyed, herbal lager that might have seen better days.

Any first impressions?
-A thin ring of foam circumnavigates the very pale golden transparence.
-Herbal hops are starting to turn into veggies; a frail aroma for the masses.
-Dry straw and herbal hops are balanced withing the sweetish cereal.
-Rather thin bodied, even for a pils, the mouthfeel isn’t helped by the strong effervescence.

What if you dig deeper?
-Feeble hop bitterness is carried over by some leftover straw.
-Although it is terribly boring, this remains very drinkable.
-A softspoken pils which must have lost some luster, but how much I won’t know anytime soon.

Bottle; no date.

Nice little pils from the 22oz bottle. Pours a soft gold, very clear with a fizzy white head. Dry and crisp with some bright hops in the nose, crisp and spicy. A bit of sulfer shows in the finish, it kinda lingers and leaves a trailing taste that isn’t so favorable, still a decent pilsner though.

pours a pale straw gold with a thick white head that retains well and leaves good lace. pungently spiced hop nose is quite sharp, almost white-peppery, with some underlying sulfer from the yeast. flavor is very dry - almost no malt presence, with a thin, almost champagne-like "body" that finishes tart and well-spiced - though honestly the hop character is kind of rough ("mostly saaz"). kind of unbalanced, and I miss there being any malt character - that crackery pils-malt snap wouls have been nice. drinkable enough, but pretty one-dimensional

Bottle, Pours a clear, light golden color white head that fades quickly leaving spotty lacing in its wake. Aroma is somewhat Malty somed spicey hops. Lighter bodied and refreshing for a big pilsner i liked this

A very malty aroma, but looks nice. I found this an excellent pilsener. Lots of flavor, clean and crisp, with some good hops in the finish. The first time I’ve seen anything make an anniversary pilsener. Well done.
