| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Nov 12, 2006 Pale yellow offering with moderate carbonation. The white head is rather swift to leave. Rather generic maltiness fails to provide a crunchy foundation, no crispness nor solid toastiness to rely upon while the noble hops do not show quite the confidence to make the beer on their own. Honeyed, herbal lager that might have seen better days. MartinT (5075), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Nov 12, 2006 Any first impressions?
-A thin ring of foam circumnavigates the very pale golden transparence.
-Herbal hops are starting to turn into veggies; a frail aroma for the masses.
-Dry straw and herbal hops are balanced withing the sweetish cereal.
-Rather thin bodied, even for a pils, the mouthfeel isn’t helped by the strong effervescence.
What if you dig deeper?
-Feeble hop bitterness is carried over by some leftover straw.
-Although it is terribly boring, this remains very drinkable.
-A softspoken pils which must have lost some luster, but how much I won’t know anytime soon.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 8, 2006 Bottle: Pale yellow, light head, subtle lacing. Nose of light sweet malt, a touch of hops. The flavor is clean, light, lacking the hop bite. No maltiness or biscuity body. Finishes snappy. Again, lacking the hops that make a pilsner a pilsner. I expected better from Deschutes. Thanks to Ken for letting me try this one. DocLock (4648), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 15, 2006 Thanks to Ken B. for this one. Pours pale gold with 1-finger, creamy white head. Aroma of pale malt, grassy hops, slight honey and citrus. The flavor was pale malty, with some honey notes, and a nice, crisp mid-palate burst of hopcitrus, and a very crisp, clean finish. | 1.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Aug 14, 2006 Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, white, mostly diminishing.
Body is light yellow.
Aroma is lightly malty (grain, husks), lightly hoppy (herbs), with notes of tin and soap.
Flavor is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter, husky, unclean.
Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Surprisingly more like a third world lager than a German pilsner. Industrial smelling. tiggmtl (4311), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 27, 2007 Strong honey with underlying malty sweetness and herbal, grassy hops apparent. Brilliantly clear blonde body is topped by a low but lasting partial cover of large bubbled white head that leaves some spotty lace. Moderate bitterness over sweet and lightly musty honey flavour. Straw and herbal hops offer counterpoint but are perhaps faded. Sweetness lingers in the aftertaste. Thin, light body is somewhat lifeless in the mouth despite aggressive carbonation. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 11, 2006 This pilsner pours a light yellow color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is bready, floral hops with a touch of spices. A light to medium bodied German style Pilsner. Malts are cereal, grain and grass. Hops are floral and slightly spicy. Light and refreshing. Crisp and spicy. It’s a very mild tasting pilsner, but its not watery. Has a touch of a hop bite to it. A very drinkable beer on a warm summer day. Nice example of the style. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
