Commercial Description:
"We felt we had to do something special to mark our 19th Anniversary," said brewmaster Larry Sidor, "so we took a vow of silence and brewed our first Belgian style ale ever to be bottled."

The straw colored Strong Golden Ale is made from an impressively international list of ingredients that acknowledge the diverse roots of craft beer. "We used Czech Saaz, Slovenian Golding, Pacific Northwest Liberty, and Brewers Gold hops," said Sidor, "along with French pilsner malt, and Belgian white candy diamonds and bitter orange peel from the island of Curacao for a little extra kick and sizzle."

Clear golden, moderate head with decent lacing and retention. Aroma is lighter fruits, a touch of pepper, sweet bready malts. Medium bodied, sweet sugary finish with a syrupy mouthfeel. Alcohol is detectable but hidden well. Sorta like a ’boring’ Belgian Ale with a bigger body.

Bottled. Beer is clear light/medium gold with a small off-white. The head is small, white, frothy, mostly and quickly diminishing but lasting.
The aroma is malty with moderate notes of toasted grain, shortbread, caramel; Hoppy with a light floral note, light note of resinous pine; Yeasty with a trace sof dough, basement; Light miscellaneous note of spicy alcohol, moderate banana/clove, generic tropical fruit notes.
The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, trace bitter with a long, moderately bitter, moderately acidic, moderately sweet. Warm, sweet alcoholic finish.
The body is medium, the texture is velvety and the carbonation is lively.
Fair, but leaden and sticky.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), with notes of bubble gum, alcohol, and pepper. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium to full body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic. Rather aimless, generic aromas. Boozy finish. Ok, but not very impressive or enticing.

This draft brew from the Oregon Brewers festival poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a transparent softly carbonated light orange brown colored body and an excellent lacing. The aroma was malty and dirty sock. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish mild vinous hop aftertaste. The crisp flavor contained notes of malt and mildly vinous. A decent one that I would consider buying again.

clear lager type body. light aroma of caramel. Not very flavorful in general. Not the best golden ale I’ve ever had, but an ok effort.

Bottle: Golden pour with a large white head that dissapated quickly. Nose is fruity and citrus hops, light breadiness. Flavor is fruity with a little Belgian yeast, hops, and spices. Has more bitters than expected. At first it seems like a kolsch, but there are enough Belgian characteristics to solidify the style. Interesting.

Fairly weak aroma of bananas, citrus, orange, and some hops. Pours a clear golden color with an off-white head. Flavor is quite sweet. Fruit, citrus (oranges), candy sugar, a hint of banana, and I little spice. Noticeable alcohol. Medium mouthfeel. Decent, but nothing great.

Draft at the Sixthe St. Bistro in Hood River, OR on 7/20/07. Brillaint gold with a medium white head. Fruity aroma with peaches, apricots, and citrus. Medium body and light carbonation, some stickiness. Basically pretty sweet tasting, although there is some light bitterness that begins to come through. Still finishes slightly on the sweet side.
