Commercial Description:
"We felt we had to do something special to mark our 19th Anniversary," said brewmaster Larry Sidor, "so we took a vow of silence and brewed our first Belgian style ale ever to be bottled."

The straw colored Strong Golden Ale is made from an impressively international list of ingredients that acknowledge the diverse roots of craft beer. "We used Czech Saaz, Slovenian Golding, Pacific Northwest Liberty, and Brewers Gold hops," said Sidor, "along with French pilsner malt, and Belgian white candy diamonds and bitter orange peel from the island of Curacao for a little extra kick and sizzle."

22oz bomber. Golden color, aroma of bananas, clove and belgian yeasts. Flavor is reminiscent of many Triples. Banana, spices and some citrus dominate the flavor palate. Pretty good - I thought this was much better than the ratings suggest.

22oz bottle: The aroma is sweet, Belgian candi-sugar driven. The beer pours a hazy orange with a small head and none of the lacing you would expect to see in a Belgian. The flavor is dominated by the sweetness with a slight effervescence on the finish. The palate is medium and largely appropriate for the style but slightly cloying. This is a decent beer and an adventurous step for Deschutes but it needs some attention.

bright golden color that is a perfect backdrop for the suspended sediment in the glass. one finger fluffy head that hang around for a while. sweet wheat aroma with saaz hops on the background. dusty flavor throughout that mutes some of the citrus notes; it’s refreshing when they are able to come out. reminds me of a dirty belgian lager with a long finish and little complexity. lingering earthy acidic bitter taste.

Thanks to goldtwins for sharing - slightly hazy golden pour - semi-sweet, floral aroma, with some honey and dandelion - light hop spice - some banana - loads of wildflowers - a bit too sweet and heavy for a belgian golden - I like them crisp and clean.

Bottle shared by goldtwins: Slight haze to the golden pour, topped by a white film. Sweet fruity aroma. Has a orange/marmalade character, and evidence of candy-ish malts. Fluffy body, with a peachy fruity sweetness upfront. The finish very dry, but it possesses a subtle spicy bitterness. A decent Strong Ale.

Poured a clear gold color with a small white head. The aroma was semi-sweet but gave a dry feel. It was like breathing in a dry dusty room. Mild alcohol and fruit. The flavor was light overall. Light fruit and low malt. It started out sweet but the was short lived. Very dry finish with a little spice to the it.

Bottle shared by goldtwins. Pale golden beer, thin white head. Light apricot and a bit of cotton candy like sweetness, toast and sweet slightly rotted peaches. A hint of spiciness on the back. Flattish flavour. It’s okay, but it could use some more oomph.
