Commercial Description:
"We felt we had to do something special to mark our 19th Anniversary," said brewmaster Larry Sidor, "so we took a vow of silence and brewed our first Belgian style ale ever to be bottled."

The straw colored Strong Golden Ale is made from an impressively international list of ingredients that acknowledge the diverse roots of craft beer. "We used Czech Saaz, Slovenian Golding, Pacific Northwest Liberty, and Brewers Gold hops," said Sidor, "along with French pilsner malt, and Belgian white candy diamonds and bitter orange peel from the island of Curacao for a little extra kick and sizzle."

Light golden colour. Funky, fruity aroma with light mossy hop accents. Lightly alcoholic in character, with some plasticy phenols and too much sugar. Argh...another cloyingly sweet strong American attempt at a Belgian. My kingdom for some attenuation!

(22oz bottle) Pours a golden body with a medium-sized white head. Aroma of butter, peaches, toastiness, light floral, and apricot core. Flavor of apricot, butter, medicinal, and golden raisins.

Fine haze in orangey-clear beer with small whitish head. Very fruity nose, white candi sugar, reeks of high fermenting temperatures, artificial strawberry aroma, and bitter almonds. Finishing oxydized. Prematurely oxydized malts, stuffy grains. Alcohol prominent, including fusels à gogo. Alcoholwarming, medium bodied. Dry thanks to the sugar, but too sweet all the same. Ouch. Too Belgian by far - forced, I mean. Thanks Carl, rare one.

Bottle shared by goldtwins. Pale golden beer, thin white head. Light apricot and a bit of cotton candy like sweetness, toast and sweet slightly rotted peaches. A hint of spiciness on the back. Flattish flavour. It’s okay, but it could use some more oomph.

22oz bottle thanks to Kevin. Slightly hazy honey yellow color. Doughy biscuit and cracker nose, heavy on the alcohol and with some Belgian yeast esters. Thick, big, a little boozy, sticky and chewy, but very fresh and vibrant, with a chewy honey coated barley flavor. Finishes with a frothy bite. Interesting stuff.

Tap @ Brewpub: Gold, light head and lacing. Nose of sweet alcohol and floral hops. Some husky malt. The flavor is very sweet and spicy, lots of alcohol and medicinal esters for so little of a malt body. Finishes sweet and grassy, a bit odd.

A golden ale with a thin white head. A perfumey malt with caramel and light vanilla. In mouth, a crisp sweet malt, grainy, with a bit of oranges, alcohol and lingering belgian hops. Almost like a Saison. Medium bodied. Very nice. Bought at Booze Bros, Reno, NV, August 2007.
