Aug 27, 2009 rated high for a reason, AND, so everyone else knows, this was never bottled and was just a research brew as per a reply i got back from deschutes brewing. But, try any of there reserve series and you’ll fall in love. 20k imperial porter was a research brew for there XXI black butte porter. And for those of you who didn’t share....bastards!!!!

Aug 4, 2008 i was stunned when tasting the brew, its aroma was mild, with a taste that is intoxicating for a porter, the coffee bourbon raisins and chocolate provide an equilibrium of flavor. mad props.. by far best porter

Jul 23, 2008 Bottle. Pours black with a very small brown head. Dense aroma of chocolate, bourbon, coffee, raisins, and wood. Roasted malt, more coffee and chocolate in the taste. Nice blend with not-too-strong bourbon flavors, molasses, smoke, and tobacco. Some soy flavors, possibly from the hops. Simply a massive, delicious beer.

Jul 16, 2008 Bottle from Whole Foods. Pours dark black with tan head. Chocolate Coffe aroma, slight, slight bourbon. Taste is roast and chocolate with a hint of bourbon.

Jun 12, 2007 Growler from Brewpub: Dark black, nice tan head and great lacing. Nose of vegetal roast, light sweet molasses, some nuggat and cocoa. Light vanilla. The flavor is hot and steamy, nice bourbon and chocolate, some turpentine notes, very subtle though, almost soy saucish. Nice balance, many layers. Good.

May 23, 2007 Draft at brewpub: Dark brown pour with a modest tan head. Nose is sweet with bourbon, oak, and molasses. The taste is also sweet; bourbon, light on the roasted malt, molasses, and brown sugar. Bittersweet chocolate lingers in the tail. Overall quite enjoyable, just a bit sweeter than to be desired when compared to my ideal porter.

May 22, 2007 Growler from the brewpub. Big sweet chocolate and burbon aroma. Subdued roasted notes as well. Flavor was sweet but very robust. Soft roasted flavor and some coffee and milk chocolate. Lacking the sour ascidic character of most of the style. Soft carbonation and a fairly thin but very smooth palate. Thanks for bringing this one back, Jake.
