| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 13, 2008 Bottle. Pours a mostly clear yellow with medium fizzy white head. Aroma comes through with bready malt and wheat malt, with some hints of citrus and spice. Flavor is very mild, wheaty and yeasty, with some lemon and citrus and some coriander and spice. Finish is short and clean. Feels a bit thin and watery in the mouth, good for a refreshing quencher or just plain unpleasant and out of place.... I’m not quite decided. Not that I rate to style but this one seems confused about what it wants to be. Not bad, but I’m not racing out to get more like I did the BBXX. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 12, 2008 03-Aug-08 (22-oz bottle: Purchased 12-Jul-08 for $4.39 at BevMo in Solana Beach, CA) The expected aromas of coriander and orange peel are unmistakable, but there are aromas of yeast, bread and wheat as well as funk and plastic in the background. Fortunately, the plastic aroma seems to blow off after a few minutes. Spices are rather prominently flavorful, with coriander showing a strong, herbal side, and the orange peel contributing a moderate bitterness in the finish. The yeasty, wheaty flavors set a sturdy base from entry to finish, but a breadiness emerges and picks up as the beer warms. After several sips, the bitterness becomes more or less permanent on the palate, holding on long after each sip is swallowed. The body is light-medium and airy, so the mouthfeel never feels heavy or weighed down. The zesty spices and bitterness as well as the medium-strong carbonation add the necessary refreshing quality to a beer of this style. Straw yellow body with a mild haze. The whitish head pours to about half an inch before settling to a wide ring. Overall, though it’s a bit heavy on the finishing spiciness, the balance is probably ideal because if the spice was lessened, the base wheatiness would take over the flavor and mouthfeel. As a result, this is an easy bomber to fully consume. badlizard (2358), Berkeley, California, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 9, 2008 This yellow beer poured with a generous white head and a floral aroma. It’s nicely spiced, but a bit thin. BrotherGrendel (591), San Diego, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Aug 9, 2008 Murky dark yellow with a modest layer of lively foam. Aroma of wheat, coriander, light lemon and orange, Flavor is subtle citrus, wheat, banana, and spices with a slight floral/earthy hop bite near the end. Texture is watery with biting carbonation that is interfering. Overall, a crisp and unoffensive witbier that lacks depth in flavor, but perhaps decent on a hot day. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 8, 2008 22 oz bomber purchased at the Wine Store on Water Street in Port Townsend, Washington. Pour is hazy yellow white, a slight greenish tint with a one inch white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of wheat, lemon citrus, earthy hay and coriander. Some slightly sweet yeastiness in there as well. Nice nose. Taste is wheat, spicy coriander, lemon lime citrus and a great grassy hay graininess. All really well balanced. Perfectly bright taste and clean finish. This is a very tasty wit. Please make this a regular lineup beer, it’s amazing.
