| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 31, 2008 Pint from Deschutes BrewPub in Portland, OR--Poured an amber-copper body with a small fluffy whitish head. Bold hop-laden flowery, citrus, caramel sticky nose. Lots of grapefruity pininess. Crispy, chewy malt and hops balance. Highly hopped (50+ IBU) but subtly constructed. Great hoppy beer that non-hopheads could appreciate. I went to the bar hoping to try the Dissident sour ale, but this XPA was a proper substitute. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 6, 2008 On tap at the PDX tap house. Pours light amber with a soft white head. Crisp citrus hop nose, grapefruit and soft maltiness staying lowkey. The malts were perfect, enough to give a solid base to showcase the hops without this being "another ipa". Hops were floral, with a nice citrus element and crisp finish. Extra pales are nice, still sessionable, without too much bitterness, yet more hop character then your standard pale. This was a really well built beer.
