A medium bodied ESB/bitter. Malts are mild, hints of toffee, fruit and caramel. Kind of round and chewy. Not sure just what floor malts are but I think I like them. Hops are mild and slightly bitter. Mostly English style hops, but there is a touch of Pac NW hosp in there as well. Well balance bitter, Nice beer. Would make a great session ale. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. kyzr (1127), Belgrade, Montana, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jul 17, 2005 Bottle in Anchorage AK: Quiet orange-rust colors with a stoic foam topping. Musty/malty nose. Sweeeet mashy malt flavors with a very tart bite at the end, like a Granny Smith apple. Kind of a let down for a $4 bomber up here! OK, I guess. bentastic (4), USA does not count | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 15, 2005 nice head, that lingers for a bit, but a bit too fizzy. smells caramely a little bitter. looks great, the first taste is sweet for a bitter, but the aftertaste is perfect GMP (16), USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jul 5, 2005 Bottled - Very disappointing, the first Deschutes brew I have tried which I will not be trying again.
Lacking in flavor and aroma, some bitterness, but not a traditional british pint by any stretch of the imagination. IndianaRed (1560), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 7, 2005 Bottle Pours a hazy deep amber with a small but persistant head. Aroma is clean and sharp fruity light grain and not much hops. Flavors are woody, slightly dark and the hops are just there but not very strong. Feel is nice and medium bodied and the aftertaste is pleasant and not very "bitter" More drinkable than I expected. Deschutes is just a good outfit.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 6, 2005 Funny, the hops smelled dinsinctly Chinook to me, but I guess not. Somewhat clean but kind of dank. The beer never comes together quite the way the brewers intended, low bitterness, mellow malt and not overly impressive hops character. It is definitely robust for the style, but I wanted higher IBUs. leitrim65 (398), Seattle, Washington, USA
