Deschutes Brewery has taken the NW by storm--their Mirror Pond, Obsidian Stout, and Black Butte Porter are all top-ten selling micros in Oregon. You know what? This is their best beer. A couple years ago they switched to ESB, a bigger, less-balanced version. Bachelor Bitter is a spot-on classic best bitter, a perfect marriage of hops and malt that you could drink for four hours, take a break in your conversation, and then say, ’man, this is a TASTY beer.’

Nice beer. Earthy, grassy hop aroma. Nice white head with some lacing. Rich hoppy flavor with some caramel and some biscuit. Rich and creamy. Delicious.

22oz bottle. Medium amber color. Large white foamy head. Aroma is fruity, caramel and sweet. A medium bodied ESB/bitter. Malts are mild, hints of toffee, fruit and caramel. Kind of round and chewy. Not sure just what floor malts are but I think I like them. Hops are mild and slightly bitter. Mostly English style hops, but there is a touch of Pac NW hosp in there as well. Well balance bitter, Nice beer. Would make a great session ale. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

nice head, that lingers for a bit, but a bit too fizzy. smells caramely a little bitter. looks great, the first taste is sweet for a bitter, but the aftertaste is perfect

Much better than their bottled ESB, and great to finally make it to the brewpub in Bend. Coppery orange color, with a creamy off-white head. Very nice aroma, and a pleasantly bitter taste throughout, with enough malt to balance the body and keep it from being too thin. Too bad the pub is a 3 1/2 hour drive from my house.

Fine fruity/hoppy aroma and plenty of it. Glowing copper color and lovely rocky head to match. Flavor and body better-balanced and rounder than the bottled ESB---a fruitier countenance to the mix complements the mellow hoppy bite...just enough body to ward off curse of thinness...very pleasant faire...
